A local park designed with a local youth group. A series of intensive and interactive workshops were held to firstly explain about the placemaking process, secondly to set out the ‘professional’ park design principles; thirdly the brief for the activities requested by the young users; fourthly a series of options sketched out to consider; and finally the agreement of the preferred solution.
This design which was implemented in 2006 combines the playful energy of the children and the spiritual energy of the Meridian Line that runs through the park. A central lawn is intersected by a series of sub-spaces with play and recreation for all ages, and seating for exhausted parents watching on.
