Greenwich Square Piazza

A public piazza and sculpture celebrating the maritime history of Greenwich and Woolwich. The form of the space with its planting and paving evokes the flowing shipping routes across the globe. Central to the space we designed an iconic sculpture to explain the local history to the local community, both new and existing. This piece indeed captures the dichotomy of this area’s past: both in battle and discovery through Lord Nelson and Charles Darwin.

The place is already popular with the local community: old neighbours meet on their way to the Greenwich Centre, students gather and lounge on the bespoke seating features, whilst parents sit, relax and watch their toddlers in the play space.
