Dorchester Council Offices

Respecting the world of Thomas Hardy. Our landscape proposals have helped to site the new contemporary office and library building in the shadows of the great avenue of Chestnuts celebrated in ‘The Mayor of Casterbridge’. A simple design language of landscape elements include a grassed embankment leading up to a planting bed of formal hedging with colourful herbaceous perennials behind.

This building (rated BREEAM Excellent) is the first phase of a wider retail led mixed use scheme on the Charles Street Car Park, where we produced both the Urban Design Guide and public realm proposals for the planning application.
